Brand (or Branding)

Refers to the perceived image and subsequent emotional response to a company, its products and services. It also represents the conversation that customers are having with each other about the company, and how that spreads. My favorite definition about brand is the one Seth Godin gave: A brand is the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer’s decision to choose one product or service over another. If the consumer (whether it’s a business, a buyer, a voter or a donor) doesn’t pay a premium, make a selection or spread the word, then no brand value exists for that consumer.

Identity

describes the visual devices used to represent the company.Identity systems are a visual components package that is paired with style guidelines and used as a framework to ensure the corporate image is cohesive and consistent. Some of the visual devices that leverage the brand elements and style guidelines are as follows: stationery, marketing collateral, packaging, signage, messaging, and digital projects, among others.

Logo

is the central, identifiable visual element that helps customers discover, share and remember a company’s brand. Usually it’s in the form of an icon (mark or symbol), logotype, or combination of the two. The main purpose of a logo is summed up nicely as the five principles of effective logo design in this Smashing Magazine article.

What is brand marketing

A brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed. A brand name is the name of the distinctive product, service, or concept. Branding is the process of creating and disseminating the brand name. Branding can be applied to the entire corporate identity as well as to individual product and service names.

Brands are usually protected from use by others by securing a trademark or service mark from an authorized agency, usually a government agency. Before applying for a trademark or service mark, you need to establish that someone else hasn’t already obtained one for your name. Although you can do the searching yourself, it is common to hire a law firm that specializes in doing trademark searches and managing the application process, which, in the United States, takes about a year. Once you’ve learned that no one else is using it, you can begin to use your brand name as a trademark simply by stating it is a trademark (using the ” TM ” where it first appears in a publication or Web site). After you receive the trademark, you can use the registered (?) symbol after your trademark.

The objectives that a good brand will achieve include:

  • Delivers the message clearly
  • Confirms your credibility
  • Connects your target prospects emotionally
  • Motivates the buyer
  • Concretes User Loyalty

To succeed in branding you must understand the needs and wants of your customers and prospects. You do this by integrating your brand strategies through your company at every point of public contact.

Your brand resides within the hearts and minds of customers, clients, and prospects. It is the sum total of their experiences and perceptions, some of which you can influence, and some that you cannot.

A strong brand is invaluable as the battle for customers intensifies day by day. It’s important to spend time investing in researching, defining, and building your brand. After all your brand is the source of a promise to your consumer. It’s a foundational piece in your marketing communication and one you do not want to be without.

Are you an artist without a website?

We design/develop websites for artists, musicians and bands too!
If you are an artist of sorts, just starting up, want to be heard and want to reach out to many people, then having an online presence is crucial, you could write a blog, list an upcoming event, show a gallery or upload samples of your music or art, this way you can let everyone and the world know of who you are.

It doesn’t cost too much to get started. What you will need is a website name(domain name); example www.yourname.com which can costs around $20-50 for 1 year, website hosting for around $50 per year and finally designing your new website with our $400 deal( small website cms ), additionally domain and hosting setup for $100 deal to put it all together and make it work.

To sum this up:

  • $20-$50 artist website name(domain name) per year
  • $50 website hosting per year
  • $400 website design and development ( with WordPress CMS )
  • $100 domain and hosting setup
